Early access for testers (developer mode)

For testers only, until the store listing is live. Developer-mode extensions don’t update automatically — you’ll repeat these steps for each new version, and your browser may remind you that developer mode is on.

  1. Download the .zip above and check its SHA-256 (shasum -a 256 totalheal-extension-chromium-1.0.0.zip on macOS/Linux, Get-FileHash in PowerShell).
  2. Unzip it to a folder you’ll keep (for example Documents/TotalHeal Extension). Don’t delete the folder — the browser loads the extension from it.
  3. Open the extensions page: chrome://extensions (Chrome), edge://extensions (Edge), brave://extensions (Brave), opera://extensions (Opera) or vivaldi://extensions (Vivaldi).
  4. Turn on Developer mode (top right in Chrome, Brave and Vivaldi; left side in Edge).
  5. Click Load unpacked and choose the unzipped folder (the one that contains manifest.json).
  6. Pin TotalHeal from the puzzle-piece menu so you can see each site’s status. The extension ID should read jjdeenfabgfijjfifjacaogdjkoooajj.

Works best with TotalHeal Desktop

On its own the extension checks sites and links. With the TotalHeal app installed it also scans downloads on your computer and uses your plan’s cloud checks. Get the app.

Needs a trial or a plan

It protects while your device (through the TotalHeal app) or your signed-in account has an active 30-day trial or subscription. Otherwise it shows that protection is paused — it never pretends to protect you.

No browsing history

Sites are checked on your device. For sites it warned you about it keeps only the site name, the verdict and the rule — on your device by default.

Permissions, in plain language

Your browser shows these when you install. Here is why each one is needed.

  • All websitesCheck every site you open, so it can warn you on any site. Pages are checked on your device; no browsing history is collected.
  • storageKeep its settings, signed rule lists and your protection history on your device.
  • unlimitedStorageStore the signed list of dangerous sites (it can be larger than the default limit).
  • tabsRead the address of the tab you’re on, to show that site’s safety status.
  • webNavigationNotice when a page starts loading, so it can be checked before it opens.
  • webRequestSpot suspicious redirects and download requests. It does not read page contents or what you type.
  • declarativeNetRequestBlock known-dangerous sites and trackers with rules that run inside the browser.
  • downloadsPause a download and have it checked before it reaches your files.
  • nativeMessagingTalk to the TotalHeal app on your computer (for download scanning and your plan).
  • contextMenusAdd “Check this link / QR code” to the right-click menu.
  • alarmsRefresh its signed rule list on a schedule.
  • cookiesShow a site’s cookies in the privacy view and clear them — only when you ask.
  • management (optional)Optional, only if you allow it: check your other extensions for risky permissions.

The ID is for the early-access build. Store listings get an ID from the store.

What it does — and doesn’t

  • Blocks phishing, scam and fake-login pages, and dangerous downloads
  • Uses a signed rule list, verified before it’s used
  • Keeps working if our servers can’t be reached — and never blocks normal sites because of that
  • Doesn’t read what you type, record your history or show ads
